This Jaguar E Type S1 4.2 Roadster manual has recently been subject to a major and extensive refurbishment by a well-known Jaguar E Type marque specialist and is now ready to be enjoyed.

A matching number example with a wide angle cylinder which was first manufactured in the September of 1965, finished in Carmen Red with a Black Interior and Black Mohair Hood, all of which is confirmed by its Jaguar Heritage Trace Certificate.

Jaguar’s Series 1 E-Type Roadster

Even today, some six decades later, the the purity of the Series 1 design remains captivating ever since it’s unveiling to the public at The Geneva Motor Show in 1961.

Its legendary silhouette continues to turn heads wherever it arrives – a testament to innovative engineering and timeless beauty.

Sir William Lyons’ love of long sweeping lines and Malcolm Sayers’ aerodynamic principles culminated in Jaguar’s distinctive covered headlights that define the S1′s unmistakable profile.

The classic E-Type cockpit welcomes you with minimalist design focused purely on the driving experience. A large wooden-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel commands your attention, while oversized speedometer and rev counter gauges sit directly ahead. Five smaller gauges and toggle switches align neatly on the center console, and the thoughtful addition of a cigar dashboard lighter completes this engaging and focused driving environment unlike any other.

Renowned for its independent rear suspension and disc brakes all round, the Series 1 E-Type offered sophisticated handling for its era, providing a surprisingly connected feel on the road that continues to impress even by today’s standards.

The legendary XK straight-six 4.2 engine delivers 265bhp, propelling you from 0 to 60mph in just 6.5 seconds. Its distinctive exhaust note is truly addictive, especially when exploring the car’s capability to exceed double the UK’s national 70mph speed limit.

This particular E-Type Roadster is one of our Signature S1 rebuilds completed in 2013. Finished in our stunning Opalescent Signature Gunmetal Green with an Old English Red interior, it features our fast open road engine with fast cams & sports suspension with six branch exhaust, power steering & D Type wheels.

Recently workshop prepared, this automotive icon is ready to be enjoyed this summer & continues Jaguar’s ethos of Space, Grace & Pace.

We are currently rebuilding this 1964 – Original RHD – Jaguar E Type S1 3.8 FHC to its original factory specification as recorded and shown on its Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

So far, our E Type has been subject to a ground-up rebuild, including fabrication of the bodyshell and is now finished in its original factory colour of Golden Sand, ready for mechanical assembly and installation of its interior.

Lanes Cars have been E Type Jaguar Specialists for 30 years & our team of technicians have a wealth of experience in Classic Jaguar Restorations & Rebuilds.

We only rebuild three Jaguars annually for our clients, including our replica aluminium Lightweight & Linden Nocker Low Dargs to ensure we allow the time to be able to rebuild each one to the highest standard possible &  eligible for our unique 2 year no quibble warranty thereafter.

All Classic Jaguar Cars we rebuild are stripped, catalogued & where possible the original parts are refurbished to as new condition ready for reassembly, with required machine work undertaken by specialist machine shops for our ICE drivetrains, which are then rebuilt in house. Any aftermarket parts &  upgrades required are also purchased well in advance of the workshop assembly & is time to coincide with the completed bodyshells return to our workshop.

Having restored and rebuilt over 80 Jaguar E Types in our house bodyshop from 1993 to 2020, we fully understand the complexes of Jaguar Cars construction & now use three classic Jaguar specialist body shops that we have long standing relationships with, who are well respected in the Jaguar circles to meet our deadlines, you can also be assured we actively supervise at each stage the bodyshells reconstruction & fabrication, before it’s finally painted in the chosen exterior colour & before returning to our workshops for assembly.

Once the assembly comenceses & all components needed for the final build are available on the workshop shelves, our team has total control of the overall quality of the final build & components supplied and fitted.

On completion of each car built in our workshop, we carry out extensive road testing before the new interior is fitted.

With the final road test & detailed clearing unmdertaken before delivery, all to ensure that your enjoyment of your classic Jaguar can be from the first turn of the ignition key.

We last sold this E Type in 2017 & finished refurbishing for our client for delivery of the summer of 2018 with accompanying photographic histroy file of all works we completed.

There is also a large history file of invoices dating back many years accompanying this S1.5 – 4.2 E Type Roadster with a toggle switche dashboard, includes its Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirming it is a matching numbers  RHD example, green log book with some invoices dating back to February 1969 and one of the invoices that made me especially smile from 1973 for a 27,000 mile service costing 34 shillings and 23 pence, the extensive history file, along and the unique anecdotes they contain, contribute to the overall story of this Jaguar E Type.
