E Type Structural Guarantee – offered by Lanes Cars

All Jaguar E Types offered for sale by Lanes Cars have been structurally Inspected and are sold with our a 12 month Structural Guarantee.

When Buying an E Type these are the main Structural Points that should be Inspected.

Monocoque – Integrity

Very careful inspection of any E Type purchase is vital. Floors, inner and outer sills, front frame mounts, bulkhead box sections, windscreen A frames, rear radius arm mounts, jacking points, boot floor & door bottoms are the common areas that may require attention.

Front Frames and Bonnet

Check carefully for corrosion of the high-tensile Reynolds tubing (which should be brazed, not welded). The original frame number should be stamped on the top face of the right front damper mount. If new engine frames have been fitted, check the vehicles alignment. Important to check the lower bonnet scuttle, hinge mounts & lower wings.

 Past Accident Repairs

 Look out for distortion in the front frame tubing, poorly executed past repairs, & damage from previous incorrect jacking.

Panel Fit

 E-types were hand-finished & leaded when new. Some filler is exceptable provided it’s not too excessive. Check panel gaps, as in may not just be as straight forward as a door, boot lid or bonnet realignment that is required.
