When first launched in March 1971 the Motorsport Magazine did an extended 1,444 mile road test in England, Wales and the Scottish Highlands were the V12 Jaguar proved to be a very fine effortless high-speed touring car, which would accelerate effectively from 100 m.p.h. upwards with petrol consumption nearly averaging 17 m.p.g.

Purchased new by Mr Kapelan in 1962 until 1969 with the second owner Mr Anderson from 1969 until 1974

  Mr Pravl was third and the long term owner of this Jaguar E Type for 44 years  from 1974 until 2016 and was  taken off the road in the summer of 1981.

When returned to the UK in 2016 this Jaguar E Type was subject to a rebuild and passed its first MOT Inspection in 2019 with a speedometer reading of 53,266 miles.

From it’s known mileage history in 1974 when Mr Pravl purchased this E Type it was recorded at 51,654 miles and  when he sold in 2016  the mileage was recorded at 53,266 miles the recorded mileage now of 53,843 miles may well be it’s total mileage from new.

Having been recently rebuilt using and retaining many of its original Jaguar factory component parts:

• All bodywork, including bonnet, doors and internal dash, and tunnel steelwork are original to the car. Some new small floor panel sections have been welded in.

• All brightwork including wheels is original to the car. This includes door handles, window surrounds, lights, reverse light, roof/cant -rail chrome, bumpers, etc.) All of this was not re-chromed and the only replacement parts are the over-riders as they had holes drilled for Amco bars. The original boot stay was re-chromed along with rear lights and badge bar is a new item.

• Engine components (eg: air cylinder, Clutch and brake pedals, pedal box, brake booster (new rubber concertina), etc.

• All IRS components are original to the car, including the re-built brakes and handbrake mechanism

• Speedo and tacho along with most switch-gear

• Steering wheel (although new wood has been added)

• Seats (although been recovered)

• Grab handle (although re-covered)

• All glass (excluding windscreen which is proper Triplex and driver window)

• Internal cubby compartments and glove box

• All front-end suspension components including torsion bars and brake disks. Note: all bushes have been replaced with Polybush and new ball joints throughout.

• Steering rack (re-built) and column

• Horns

• Door and window mechanisms

• Wiper motor (re-built) and rack

• Dynamo (new Lucas brushes and been rebuilt)

• Spare wheel (in grey stove enamel) and clamp

• Boot wooden boards

• Heater box (although now equipped with single-speed Fiero motor and fan)

• All locks (ignition and doors) and original keys present.

With its period-correct date and sequence XKE, 3.8 engine Fast Road Spec being prepared and rebuilt by Winspeed makes for an interesting Jaguar E Type.

This original RHD – E Type S3 – 2 + 2 manual was first supplied to the Automobile Centre Leeds in September 1971 who sold to its first owner Mr. Gwynfryn Gwilym.

A matching number example which was first manufactured in the September of 1965 & was finished in Carmen Red with a Black Interior and Black Hood, all of which is confirmed by its Jaguar Heritage Trace Certificate.

It is still finished in its original color combination today, with a large accompanying history file for its most recent and previous works that include photographs, numerous invoices, and general information dating back over many years.

With minimal upgrades supplied and are fitted for today’s modern driving conditions except for a later cylinder head for improved torque, this E Type is a pleasure to drive and retains many of its original features, which really needs to be seen and test-driven to be fully appreciated.

This Jaguar E Type S1 3.8 Roadster has been rebuilt by Queenstown Restorations who completed its bodyshell fabrication and paintwork, with Rushton Engineering completing the vehicle’s engine, gearbox, rear differential rebuild and who completed the installation of its running gear and its assembly, before then returning to Queenstown Restorations for installation of a completely new interior.
