You can sense that something is handmade especially when you are driving an analogue car, which has no on board computers or ECU’s, just a mechanical drivetrain and dials with real needles, hydraulic braking and clutch systems, which in turn gives a driver an exhaust note to enjoy and a connection with the road that a modern digital car just cannot replicate allowing the driver to fully experience the nuances of the road surfaces, to further enhance your overall driving enjoyment.

One of the rarest E Types

There were only ever two Low-Drag’s ever made & our handbuilt Low-Drag Lindner Nocker aluminium replica pays homage to one of these two very different & uniquely designed 1960s racing E Types.

The original 12 – aluminium racing Lightweights Jaguar Cars ever made were all sold to their preferred privateer racing teams who wished to campaign in the FIA’s elevation of the GT class Manufacturers Championship for 1963.

Amazingly all 12 have survived & now reside in the hands of private collectors & rarely if ever offered for sale, sell for millions of pounds & usually by a private treaty agreement & rarely at auction with the last known sale of a Lightweight being sold by an auction by Bonhams in 2017 for over six million pounds

Of these 12 aluminium Lightweights, there were two that became known as Low Drags & both were individually developed by two privateer race teams Lindner – Nocker & Lumsdon – Sargent with both being quite different in their areodynamics coefficency designs for their 1964 racing campaigns.

Why an original Low Drag is the rarest Jaguar E Type?

When Sir William Lyons launch his now Iconic 150mph E Type Jaguar in March 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show to worldwide applause, with a production run of 13 years & 72,000 Jaguar E Types being manufactured, the Low Drag is the rarest of them all with only 2 ever being designed, built & raced.

Being born from the same stable as the racing legends & had been developed using the same construction in it’s design as the D-Type with a monocoque body & space frame front end, right from the outset the E-Type was seen as a natural successor, which first raced competitively only a month later with Graham Hill celebrating the model’s racing debut by winning at Oulton Park on 3rd April 1961 driving chassis no: 850005 with 2nd being won by Innes Ireland driving Aston Martins DB4 GT and third by Roy Salvaddori in John Coombs E Type Roadster reg no: Buy 1 with fourth & fifth place going to the two Ferrari’s driven by Graham Whitehead & Jack Sears.
