Leaving the Browns Lane Factory in October 1968 and purchased by Arnold Burton of the Burton Clothing Empire family.
Arnold who was a great motoring and racing fan heard rumours of Jaguar developing a V12 engine and ordered the car before the spec was finalised.
He was disappointed when the car arrived with the trusty 4.2 litre straight six and soon sold it to his brother Stanley, who kept it for a
reasonable period of time.
The car was exported to Jersey in the 1974 and returned to the UK in December 1984.
It was then bought at a Sotheby’s auction by Digby Hulme, a motoring enthusiast who kept it for over 25 years.
In the mid 90s a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration at a cost of £75,000 was carried out by Vintage Carriage Company of whom one of the directors of this company was Murray Walker the F1 commentator.
A 5 speed Getrag gearbox was fitted at this time, which is believed to have been the first Jaguar E Type to have been fitted with this upgrade.
Last sold by ourselves in 2013 and finished in BRG with Tan interior and a large history file, this great driving very early RHD – S2 Fixed Head Coupe is offered for at £69,995,
