Jaguar E Types V12 – 5.3 is Smooth, Balanced with Turbine – Like Performance
Jaguars E Type V12 5.3 – Twelve cylinder engine in a V-formation was the most powerfull engine ever fitted to an E Type with 285 of bhp & even by today standards, still offers amazing performance for a 50 year old classic Jaguar with a smooth, balanced, turbine-like performance with the passing speeds available when you really need performance.
The smoothness of having the 5.3 litres of capacity being spread over twelve cylinders means, simply, smaller pulses of power are delivered to the crankshaft, but, each pulse is delivered more frequently & makes a V12 E Type just at home in city traffic as well as on country roads & for high speed cruising.
When first launched in March 1971 the Motorsport Magazine did an extended 1,444 mile road test in England, Wales and the Scottish Highlands were the V12 Jaguar proved to be a very fine effortless high-speed touring car, which would accelerate effectively from 100 m.p.h. upwards with petrol consumption nearly averaging 17 m.p.g.
